Terms of Business for Proofreading, Editing, and Translation Services

1. Services Provided
James & Isabelle Webb LLP, trading as I Webb Language Services, offer professional proofreading, editing, and translation services.

  • Proofreading includes checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, consistency, and formatting where necessary. It does not include rewriting or significant content changes unless agreed upon separately. Proofread texts are returned with track changes enabled to allow you to review all modifications.
  • Editing involves improving the clarity, structure, and flow of a document while maintaining the author’s voice and intent. This may include rewording sentences, improving coherence, and making the text more engaging and precise.
  • Translation work is provided with the English (Any) to French (France) language pair, ensuring accuracy and clarity while preserving the original meaning and tone. Additional services, such as localisation and adaptation, can be arranged upon request.

2. Pricing & Payment
Prices depend on the length, complexity, and urgency of the work. A detailed quote will be provided before work begins, based on word count, complexity, and turnaround time. A 50% deposit is required upfront before work commences. The final payment must be made immediately upon completion of the work. Interest may be charged on overdue invoices. For larger projects, specific payment plans can be arranged.

3. Turnaround Time
Deadlines will be agreed upon before starting the work. I will always aim to meet deadlines, but unexpected delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. If a delay is unavoidable, I will notify you as soon as possible and discuss possible alternatives. If the deadline is critical, rush services may be available at an additional cost.

4. Revisions & Corrections
If you are not satisfied with the work, I offer one free revision within a set timeframe (usually 7 days after delivery). Revisions must be within the scope of the original request. Additional revisions or changes outside the original scope may incur extra charges. Clients are responsible for reviewing and approving the final work before publication or submission.

5. Confidentiality
All documents and client information will be kept confidential. I will not share your work with third parties without your permission. If required, I am willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to ensure confidentiality.

6. Accuracy & Liability
I strive for accuracy and high-quality work, but I cannot guarantee 100% perfection. It is your responsibility to review the final work before publication or submission. I am not liable for any losses, damages, or consequences resulting from errors or misinterpretations in the final text. If you find significant errors, I will make reasonable corrections at no additional charge within the agreed revision period.

7. Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel the service after work has started, a partial payment may be required for work already completed. If a project is canceled after substantial progress has been made, the client may be charged up to the full agreed amount. Deposits are generally non-refundable unless otherwise agreed.

8. Governing Law & Contracting Entity
This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. The contract is entered into with the legal entity James & Isabelle Webb LLP. By using my services, you agree to these terms.
